Displayed is a 1935 Oakland Oaks team-signed League Baseball with twenty-five signatures, including Ed Walsh Jr., Charlie Grimm, and more. In 1935, the Pacific Coast League Oaks were affiliated with the New York Yankees and managed by former Major Leaguer Oscar Vitt, who also signed the ball. Ed Walsh Jr. was the son of Ed Walsh, a Hall of Fame pitcher with the Chicago White Sox. Ed Walsh Jr. pitched during four Major League seasons, all with the Chicago White Sox. He was a pitcher on the '35 Oakland squad. He passed away in 1937. Charlie Grimm was a Major League first baseman, mostly known for his years with the Chicago Cubs. He became a well-known Major League manager. Grimm never played or managed with Oakland. He batted .290 as a Major Leaguer, mainly remembered as a Chicago Cub. Oscar "Ossie" Vitt played 10 Major League seasons, playing seven years in Detroit and three seasons with the Boston Red Sox, batting a career .238. Later, he managed the Cleveland Indians. Some of the other signers of the ball had already played in the Major Leagues, or would in the future, but played at Oakland in '35. These included: Willie Ludolph and Emil Mailho. Most of the players signed in fountain blue or black ink. The autos are 6/10, and the ball is in good condition.
