Extensive collection of both glass negatives (96) and film negatives (76) produced by renowned baseball photographer Charles Conlon, including thirteen depicting Hall of Fame players. These negatives, which originate from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive, feature, with just a few exceptions, Brooklyn Dodgers players or coaches who were with the club from the 1910s through the early 1940s. (Many of the players depicted in the glass and film negatives were technically members of the Brooklyn Robins, as from 1916-31, the Brooklyn National League franchise was known as the Robins, in honor of Wilbert Robinson, the Hall of Fame manager who skippered the Brooklyn team from 1914-31.) Nearly all the negatives are housed in their original paper sleeves which feature Conlon's handwritten player and team identifications on the front. Similarly, most of the negatives bear Conlon's player and team identifications written along the top border. Conlon supplied Brown Brothers with photos over the course of his career, so many of the images in this collection were used for publication, with some possibly featured on trade cards as well. Both the glass and film negatives measure 4x5" and are in Excellent condition overall, with a small percentage in the Fair to Good range. In our listing, the number of negatives for each player, if more than one, is noted in parentheses (nearly all are different poses).
