Presented is a circa 1960s Tom Heinsohn Boston Celtics original Type I photograph used for his 1961 Fleer card image. The Hall of Fame power forward played for the Boston Celtics from 1956-65, and he coached the Celtics from 1969-78. He won eight NBA Championships as a player and two more NBA Championships as a coach, all with the Celtics. For his career, he averaged 18.6 PPG, 8.8 TRB, and 2.0 AST. He was the 1956-57 NBA Rookie of the Year and a 6-time NBA All-Star. Heinsohn was also a long-time broadcaster for the Celtics, and he spent six decades with the organization in total. Growing up in Union City, New Jersey, Heinsohn spent a great amount of time shooting in low-ceilinged CYO gyms, and as a result, he developed a line drive jump shot so that he would not hit the low ceiling beams, and that trademark shot stayed with him for his pro career. The 8x10" photo is posed, as Heinsohn is smiling, something he rarely did as a hard-nosed competitor on the basketball floor. The photo exhibits some darkening from the passage of time but is in otherwise fine condition. On the back of the photo is "Heinsohn" hand-printed in ink from an unknown hand. The photo has been encapsulated and comes with a PSA LOA (Photo Cert. 1P15069) that certifies the photo as Type I.
