Circa 1880s brown baseball bat, used in the early days of the sport. The finely made item, which resembles a piece of high-end furniture, is 35" long, weighs 35 1/2 ounces, and has a barrel that is 8" in diameter. The words "LEAGUE CLUB" are painted on the center of the item with two stenciled rings on either side. During the manufacturing process, the bat was hand-turned, and lathe marks are visible on the barrel and the knob ends. Almost 150 years old, this item represents an important piece of baseball history.
