Presented is a rare Spalding bat patented in 1884. The bat is 32.75" long and weighs 34.5 ounces. It includes a decorative design featuring a black and gold center brand displaying the Spalding logo. Below the logo is printed text that reads, "No. OO/Pat. June 17, 1884." The bat displays heavy use, and there is evidence that the end of the barrel has been shortened as it is sanded and has a small chip in the back of the barrel. It also appears that at some point, the handle had some sort of gripping substance or tape on it that ran 12.75" up from the knob.
