Displayed is an original 1934 snapshot photograph of Babe Ruth and Lefty Gomez and their wives while they were part of the U.S. Tour of Japan by a team of American League All-Stars. The National League would not permit its players to go on the tour, so the 14-player All-Star team was composed of American League players. The American team had Ruth, Gomez, Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig, Earl Averill, Charlie Gehringer, Moe Berg, Frankie Hayes, and others. Ruth hit 13 home runs on the tour, and the Americans defeated a Japanese All-Star team in each of the 18 games that were played. The photo measures 2.75x4.5". The players and their wives wear leis around their necks. The photo has been encapsulated and PSA Certified as Type I AUTHENTIC. Also included is a second photo, in very poor condition (measuring approx. 3.5x9") with a rip and taped repair, that also shows Ruth and Gomez and their wives, plus other teammates and wives on the tour.
