Collection of thirty-nine original glass plate football negatives, culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archives, dating from the early 1900s. All but four of the images capture a game in progress, with the other four picturing either crowd scenes or individual players. Unfortunately, no information is provided as to the teams or locales, but most of the games appear to be either local or college matches. Thirty-five negatives measure 7x5", while the remainder measure 5x4". Nearly all the negatives display moderate chipping and/or emulsion loss along the border areas, and ten (all 7x5") display enlargement-lamp burns that might impact the quality of any photographic prints made from them. Good condition overall.
