A pair of black and white Koho hockey gloves worn by Pittsburgh Penguins legend Mario Lemieux during the 1991-92 season. The gloves show incredible wear, including stick marks, paint transfers, scuffs, and pilling on the inside. Lemieux's number 66 and the words 91-92 Cup are written in faded marker on the inside wrist of each glove. The item has been photo-matched to the cover of Edward F. Dolan Jr.'s 1993 book The National Hockey League, a copy of which is included in the lot. This lot represents a rare opportunity as these are among the finest pair of game-used Lemieux gloves on the planet. The 1991-92 season was a remarkable one for "Super Mario" as he scored 44 goals and notched 87 assists for a total of 131 points in just 64 games played. His incredible play continued in the postseason as he scored 16 goals and recorded 18 assists in 15 playoff games as the Penguins swept the Chicago Blackhawks, earning their second straight Stanley Cup. Despite only playing 70+ games 6 times, Lemieux ranks 11th all-time in goals, 12th in assists, and 8th all-time in points. Lemieux's career average of 1.88 points per game places him in second place, right behind Wayne Gretzky.
