Presented is a collection of seven (7) signed Joe DiMaggio 8x10" photos. "Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio? A nation turns its eyes towards you, whoa, whoa, whoa," sang Simon and Garfunkel in their plaintive hit song "Mrs. Robinson." In 1941, the nation did turn its lonely eyes towards DiMaggio as war in Europe made Americans feel that soon America would be at war. Then Joe DiMaggio started hitting, game after game, and as his streak mounted, Americans could briefly forget their troubles and their concerns about looming war and root for DiMaggio each day to extend his streak. Persons everywhere asked friends or strangers, "How did Joe do today?" DiMaggio wound up with his amazing 56-game hitting streak, still the record. DiMaggio was a complete player who roamed the spacious center field at Yankee Stadium, making hard plays look easy. Joltin' Joe batted a career .325, with 361 homers, and he helped his New York Yankees, the sole Major League team for which he played, to nine World's Championships. His fame transcends sports, and his marriage to Marilyn Monroe made him even more in the psyche of the nation. The seven offered DiMaggio signed photos: 1) A limited edition signed color photo of DiMaggio celebrating his induction on July 25, 1955, into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Shows DiMaggio kneeling with his bat as if on deck. The photo page contains DiMaggio's lifetime hitting statistics. The Yankee Clipper signed and added "5" within a circle, in his own hand, which is rare. 2) A black & white photo of DiMaggio at Yankee Stadium, standing next to Hall of Fame announcer Mel Allen and in front of a table of gifts. It could be on a "Day" for DiMaggio. 3) A colorized photo of DiMaggio, kneeling as if on deck. 4) A colorized version of DiMaggio in a creation of sports cartoonist Bill Gallo, with two images of the Yankee Clipper: One batting and the other smiling, as if in the clouds. 5) A color photo of the Yankee center field icon in uniform, most likely on a baseball field in Florida from when he was a special spring training instructor for the Yankees. 6) A black & white photo of an older Joe in uniform, most likely in spring training. 7) A color photo of the retired center fielder, now older. It could be at Yankee Stadium, and he is waving to the crowd. DiMaggio signed each photo in blue ink, either with a marker or a fine tip marker. The photos average NRMT, with 8/10 signatures. The DiMaggio signatures were obtained in person during the 1980s and '90s.
