Hall of Fame right-hander Bob Gibson was an intimidating pitcher who spent his entire Major League career with the St. Louis Cardinals (1959-75). Presented is a circa 1982 Bob Gibson Atlanta Braves coaching jacket. When he wore the offered jacket, Gibson was on the coaching staff of manager Joe Torre, his former catcher on the Cardinals. Gibson worked with pitchers and being, as Torre said, "My attitude coach." In his Major League career, Gibson won 251 games, with 3,117 strikeouts and a 2.91 ERA. He was a 9-time All-Star and a 2-time World Series Champion. Gibson's best season was 1968, when he was the NL MVP with a record of 22-9, and a NL leading 1.12 ERA. That was the year he won the first of his two NL Cy Young Awards. The blue, satin jacket has Braves in sewn-on script on the front in white. There is a Wilson size 42 tag in the collar, with 45 written on it in vintage black marker by an unknown hand. Seven blue metal snaps go down the front, with the snaps showing great use, as most of the snaps have the blue veneer partially worn off. The jacket shows use, but it is in fine condition. It was worn by an all-time pitching legend.
