Displayed is a 1987 Ray Knight Baltimore Orioles signed game worn jersey. The third baseman played 13 Major League seasons: Cincinnati Reds (1974 & 1977-81), Houston Astros (1982-84), New York Mets (1984-86), Baltimore Orioles (1987), Detroit Tigers (1988). A 2-time All-Star, Knight batted a career 271, with 84 homers and 595 RBIs. Knight was known for being adept with his fists, and when any baseball altercation broke out, Knight was usually present and effective. In the '87 season, during which Knight wore the offered jersey, he batted .256, with 14 homers. Knight was a key member of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets, and he was that season's World Series MVP, batting .391. The offered jersey is white, with orange and black trim. On the chest is Orioles in sewn-on orange script with black trim. Below the team's name is 25 in orange sewn-on numerals with black trim. Six silver-white buttons go down the front. On the back is a white sewn-on nameplate, with sewn-on orange block letters with black trim. On the inside, lower left tail is a Rawlings manufacturer's tag that shows a size 44. Adjacent to the manufacturer's tag is a tag showing SET 1 1987. The jersey exhibits light wear and is in fine condition. Knight signed his name in black marker, and his signature proves that his right hand can do more than gun a runner out at first base or effect a good punch in a brawl. Knight's right can also craft a wonderful autograph. His signature, on the left chest, is big, bold, and beautifully written, with marvelous script.
