"The Human Rain Delay" was his notorious nickname as a player, and Mike Hargrove was certainly well-deserving of the moniker. Presented is a 2001 Mike Hargrove signed Baltimore Orioles Turn-Back-the Clock manager's jersey. Hargrove played 12 seasons in the Major Leagues: Texas Rangers (1974-78), San Diego Padres (1979), Cleveland Indians (1979-85). The big first baseman batted a career .290, with 80 home runs and 686 RBIs. As a batter, he would habitually step out of the batters' box after every pitch, and begin the following ritual: adjust his helmet, adjust his batting glove, pull up each sleeve, wipe both his hands on his pants. Moreover, sometimes he would repeat the routine before stepping back into the box. In addition, Hargrove was adept at fouling off pitches until he got a pitch he wanted. His enormously prolonged at-bats irritated fans, press, and announcers and infuriated opposing pitchers. After his playing career, he managed the Cleveland Indians, the Baltimore Orioles, and the Seattle Mariners. In 2001, he was the Baltimore Orioles' skipper when they had a 63-98 record, for 4th place in the AL East. The offered jersey is orange, with black and white trim.
