Presented is a 1939 Mel Ott autograph display, with Ott's cut autograph on a display that shows the left-handed batter with his famous right foot leg kick about to occur, just as he is poised at the brink of his powerful swing. Hall of Famer Ott was a legendary right fielder for the New York Giants, the only Major League team for which he played in a career spanning from 1926-47. Ott started with the Giants at the age of only 17, and his youthful appearance led to his nickname of "Master Melvin." The great Ott was only 5'9" and 170 lbs., but his swing generated enormous torque, and he hit a lifetime 511 home runs. He was the first National League player to hit more than 500 home runs. He was a 12-time All-Star who led the NL in homers in six seasons. The 7x9" Ott photo is matted and framed to 11x13". The signed cut signature is on a piece of paper measuring 1x2.5", but the strip of paper also has "Aug 3, 1939" written in pencil by an unknown hand, and the entire cut signature piece of paper measures 1x4.5". Using a gray graphite pencil, Ott signed in neat, bold script. The bottom of the display has a 0.6x3.5" plaque reading, MEL OTT. The signed cut display comes with a JSA LOA for the cut signature.
