Rare circa 1972 Cincinnati Swords American Hockey League jersey was game worn by forward Jake Rathwell. Road blue sweater has Rawlings size 46 tag and Al Dekdebrun wash tag are sewn inside the tail. Central crest across the chest features crossed swords behind a yellow C on a blue field, an obvious connection to the parent club, the Buffalo Sabres. Collar drawstring is not present, number 16 is on shoulders and back in yellow-on-white tackle twill. Great use is displayed throughout, including marks on sleeves, abrasions, and wear to the crest and numbers. Rathwell played in the first two seasons of the franchise's existence - 1971-72 and '72-73, and he helped the team to the Calder Cup championship in his second season. As the Swords only lasted one more year, any of their memorabilia, particularly game used, is difficult to come by.
