Displayed is a 1960s vintage autograph and inscription from film star Jayne Mansfield, known as "the smartest dumb blonde" in Hollywood. Mansfield, who was actually quite intelligent, was a natural brunette who parlayed her beautiful looks, bleached hair, and voluptuous figure into a niche as a type of Marilyn Monroe actress. She attracted attention to her fledgling acting career when she was a 1955 Playmate of the Month in Playboy magazine. She starred in the movie The Girl Can't Help It (1956). She had starred on Broadway in the hit play Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter, and then reprised the role in the movie of the same name (1957). Her life ended in tragedy when she died in an automobile crash in 1957. One of her children is actress Mariska Hargitay, a long-time actress on television's Law and Order. The offered cut autograph and inscription are on a piece of paper or card stock measuring approx. 2.3x4.2". This cut piece is affixed to an approx. 3.5x4.5" piece of paper or card stock. On the bottom of the larger piece is JAYNE MANSFIELD on a strip of plastic with lettering made by a labeling gun. The offering has a small section of what appears to be a tape or glue remnant, and there is a small piece of tape that connects the smaller and larger sections of paper or card stock. Jayne Mansfield neatly wrote, using a blue ballpoint, "Love and Kisses, Jayne Mansfield." Instead of dotting the letter "I" in the inscription and signature, the actress drew hearts. The offering has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
