Displayed is a Lou Brock jersey that was worn by the Hall of Famer on Oct. 2, 2005, at Busch Stadium II in St. Louis during on-field ceremonies for the final game at the stadium. Brock was a left fielder who played 19 MLB seasons: Chicago Cubs (1961-64), St. Louis Cardinals (1964-79). Brock finished his career with 3,023 hits and 938 stolen bases, at his retirement the highest total in baseball history, and still second to Rickey Henderson's 1,406. In 2006, the Cardinals moved into Busch Stadium III, also now known as "New Busch Stadium." Busch Stadium III, with a seating capacity of 44,383, occupies some of the original footprint of Busch Stadium II, and it opened on April 4, 2006. It is still the home of the Cardinals. Past Cardinals including Hall of Famers were honored on the field, and Brock was one of them. The flannel jersey has Michell & Ness Cooperstown Collection tagging on the front, left tail. "Final Game" is embroidered in red below that tagging. The jersey has the famed Double Cardinal logo across the chest, and below that is Cardinals in red, sewn-on letters with navy blue trim. Below the team's name is 20, in red, sewn-on numerals with navy blue trim. On the left sleeve is a beautiful, multi-colored patch, with a Cardinal bird perched atop an image of Busch Stadium II and reading, "Busch Stadium Final Season 1966 * 2005." On back is BROCK in sewn-on red letters with navy blue trim. Below that is 20 in sewn-on red numerals with navy blue trim. The jersey was signed on the right chest by former Cardinals star outfielder Andy Van Slyke, who was also one of the on-field honorees. Van Slyke neatly signed in black fine tip marker. The jersey is in excellent condition.
