The 1997 Florida Marlins became the first team in Major League history to win the World Series as a wild card, stunning the favored Cleveland Indians for their first championship. Featuring a roster stuffed with super-talented players and veteran manager Jim Leyland, the Fish put it all together in October before the general manager dismantled the team during the offseason. This miniature version of the team championship trophy was handed out to members of the winning team, including players, coaches, and high-ranking team officials. This particular one belonged to slugging outfielder Gary Sheffield and came directly from the Florida native, who batted .320 during that memorable postseason run, with homers in each of his team's three postseason series. The trophy, which stands just shy of a foot high, features the pennants of every Major League team, the baseball/crown centerpiece, Marlins and Indians pins, and this wording on the base: WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS, FLORIDA MARLINS, 1997, GARY SHEFFIELD, OF, #10. It is in EX-MT condition. The Marlins have won two championships (also in 2003), yet have never won a divisional title.
