Thomas is pictured guarding Milwaukee Bucks guard Sidney Moncrief. Thomas played 41 minutes in his NBA debut and scored a game-high 31 points to help lead the Pistons to a 118-113 home win at the Pontiac Silverdome. The photographer's credit stamp, Detroit News Photographer Holcomb (Drayton Holcomb), appears on the reverse, along with Thomas' handwritten name and three separate date stamps, the earliest of which is "Oct 30 1981." This photo originates from a hobby fresh archive of Detroit Pistons photos from the Detroit Free Press.
