Displayed are two American League season passes, for 1960 and 1964, that were gifted by the American League to Mrs. Claire Ruth, Babe Ruth's second wife and his widow. She was born in Georgia and eventually became a model and a dancer in Broadway shows in New York City. She was married to Babe Ruth from April 17, 1929, until his death in 1948. Claire Ruth attended many games at Yankee Stadium over the years, and she was an active supporter of Babe Ruth Baseball. The American League season passes: 1) 1960 - The pass measures 2.75x4.25". It is numbered "10 NY." The pass reads, "Annual Pass to All Grounds/American League of Professional Base Ball Clubs 1960/Mrs. George H. Ruth and party," and it contains facsimile signatures of Yankee owner Daniel Topping and American League President Joe Cronin. It also contains a 2.4x4.2" booklet that carries the full AL schedule for the 1960 season. The pass and schedule come in an attractive brown wallet that measures 3.1x4.8". The wallet has a few scratches and some small partial loss of finish but is in otherwise good condition. 2) 1964 -The pass measures 2.75x4.25". It is numbered "14 NY." The pass reads, "Annual Pass to All Grounds American League of Professional Base Ball Clubs/Mrs. George H. Ruth and party." It contains the facsimile signatures of Yankee Owner Daniel Topping and American League President Joe Cronin. This pass also comes with a booklet containing the entire 1964 AL schedule. The 1964 pass and AL schedule come in a brown wallet that measures 3.1x4.8". The aforementioned AL schedule has quite a number of missing pages. The pass itself has a few small stains. The brown wallet shows surface loss along the edges. For years after Babe Ruth's death, Claire Ruth would attend games at Yankee Stadium and receive a warm round of applause from the fans, and these season passes are a fine memento of her loyalty to the New York Yankees, and Yankee Stadium, "The House That Ruth Built."
