Ted Williams said that his goal in life was to sometime walk down a street and have people say, "There goes the greatest hitter who ever lived." Presented is a Ted Williams signed 1989 personal check in the amount of $650.00. There are many baseball pundits who feel that if Williams wasn't the best hitter who ever lived, that he was close. The Splendid Splinter played his entire 19-year career with the Boston Red Sox. he batted a career 342, with six AL batting crowns, 19-All-Star game selections, two Triple Crowns and two AL MVP Awards. His lifetime homer total of 521 is amazing considering that in two wartime tours with the U.S. Marines as a pilot that he missed the equivalent of almost five full seasons. He remains the last Major Leaguer to hit .400, as he batted .406 in 1941. The signed check measures 3x8.2" and it is dated March 29, 1989, and drawn on the State Street Bank and Trust Company of Boston, Massachusetts. the check is made out to "K. Hichtenberg and Co.," and it has been cashed. Williams signed the check, using a blue ballpoint, as "Theodore Williams." The check is in excellent condition. It has been encapsulated and given a PSA/DNA AUTO GRADE of MINT 9.
