Displayed is a Mickey Mantle signed illustrated menu cover from his restaurant, formally known, appropriately enough, as Mickey Mantle's Restaurant and Sports Bar, and informally referred to as Mickey Mantle's. The restaurant was located near Central Park, in New York City, and it was one of the most popular sports restaurants in New York during the 1980s. The Hall of Fame center fielder would visit the restaurant on a regular basis and would sign for some of the visitors. The menu cover measures 10.3x15.4", and it features a colorful image of a lithograph by noted artist and illustrator Burton Silverman. The artist was elected to the Hall of Fame of the Pastel Society of America, and among his many honors are nine awards from the National Academy of Design Museum. Silverman created the iconic image on the album cover of Jethro Tull's Aqualung. The offered menu illustration depicts a youthful Mickey on the dugout steps at Yankee Stadium, bat on his shoulder. At the bottom of the restaurant cover is an image of the famous frieze of the original Yankee Stadium and a facsimile Mantle autograph. The actual Mantle signature is in blue, fine tip marker on the menu cover. It shows Mantle's classic, beautifully scripted signature, big and bold. There is a slight skip on the "n" in the Mantle signature. The signed menu comes with a PSA/DNA Certification (Number AN02578). The menu is in excellent condition.
