Philadelphia Phillies home knit jersey worn by rookie second baseman Juan Samuel during Games 4 and 5 of the 1983 World Series. Samuel has personally attested to its World Series game use by inscribing the garment "Juan Samuel/#16/My 83 World Series Shirt" in black marker. Additionally, Davious Photo-Matched has matched the jersey to Samuel wearing the jersey in both games. The white pinstripe zipper-front jersey features the team's "P" logo on the left breast and the number 16 on the right breast and reverse. "Samuel" is lettered upon a white nameplate on the reverse, directly above the number. 1983 Phillies 100th Anniversary patch appears on the left sleeve. The name "Samuel" is chain-stitched in black upon a white strip tag in the collar. Located on the left front tail are a Wilson 40 label and both the year and set number ("84 2"), which are chain-stitched in black upon a white strip tag. Despite the year tag, this jersey was worn by Samuel during the 1983 World Series, and the tagging is consistent with other documented 1983 Phillies World Series jerseys. (Samuel wore number 16 only in 1983.) The jersey is original and displays light wear, including light fading to a portion of the maroon trim on the left shoulder. Samuel appeared in three World Series games, but his only two home appearances came in Games 4 and 5. In Game 4 he was a pinch runner, but in Game 5 he pinch hit for pitcher Marty Bystrom and flied out to end the inning. Comes with LOA from Davious Photo-Matched.
