Displayed is a gorgeous 2001 New England Patriots World Champion ring box that celebrates the Patriots' Oct. 14, 2001, victory over the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI. The game was played at the Louisiana Superdome before 72,922, and the Patriots' win was the first time that New England had won a Super Bowl. The plastic box is wood, with a heavy, clear laminate. Tom Brady was the game's MVP, and he completed 16 of 27 passes for 145 yards and a touchdown, with no interceptions. With the score tied at 17 and only 1:30 remaining in the game, Brady led a drive that resulted in a winning 48-yard field goal by Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri. On the top of the box is NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS/SUPER BOWL WORLD CHAMPIONS 2001. The top of the box includes an image of the contiguous United States, covered by SUPER BOWL XXXVI. The box is 5x7", with a height of 2.9". The interior of the box is lined with a blue, velvet-like material. The bottom of the box is covered by an approx. 4x6" hard plastic liner that has a red, white, and blue Patriots logo. This liner has come loose from the glue that held it in place in the bottom of the box, and it fits in place, but may come loose. The box is missing the inside ring cushion. The ring box DOES NOT have the Super Bowl XXXVI ring. The underside of the box shows a "Jostens" manufacturer's sticker. The box weighs 21 ounces. One tiny part of the blue lining shows a slight abrasion of about 0.25". Overall, the box is in EXCELLENT condition, and it makes a fine collectible as a jewelry box for a Super Bowl XXXVI ring if such is obtained, or as by itself as a memento of the Patriots' first Super Bowl triumph.
