Offered is an impressive collection of 21 signatures, mainly from United States Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Supreme Court Justices, presented in a wonderfully appropriate manner: The signatures of these powerful personages are displayed in a special edition hardcover book, printed by the David McKay Company in 1976, to commemorate the United States' Bicentennial. The book's straightforward title: THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA with the DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE and the ARTICLES OF CONFEDERATION. Signing on what would be Page 1, if it were marked, a page with an image of the Seal of the United States, are Presidents: "George Herbert Walker Bush" (not his typical signature in that he signed his full name, including "Herbert Walker") "Bill Clinton," "Gerald R. Ford," "Ronald Wilson Reagan," "Richard Milhous Nixon," and "Jimmy Carter." Presidents Clinton, Ford, and Carter signed in black marker. Presidents George Herbert Walker Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Richard Nixon signed in blue ink. All of the foregoing signatures are bold and neatly written. Also, signing on Page 1: Mikhail Gorbachev, the last President of the Soviet Union, signing in ink; "Al Gore," Vice President and Presidential candidate, and former Vice President Dan Quayle. Gore's clearly written signature is in blue marker. Quayle signed in ink with his formal name, "James Danforth Quayle." In addition, former U. S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger also signed on Page 1, signing as "Henry A. Kissinger" in a fine tip, blue marker, and General Colin Powell also signed on this page, in blue ink. Former U. S. Supreme Court Justice Warren E. Berger signed in neatly written black ink at the top of the flyleaf to the left of Page 1. Signing on this flyleaf below Warren Burger's signature was "Sandra Day O'Connor," the first woman to become a U.S. Supreme Court Justice. Signing on what would be Page 5, if it were numbered: President Jimmy Carter (his second signature in this lot, clearly written in ink); Rosalyn Carter, former First Lady as the wife of Jimmy Carter; George Bush (his second signature of this lot), not using his full name of George Herbert Walker Bush, but using merely "George Bush." Page 9 includes the signatures of Vice President and Presidential Candidate Walter Mondale, in red ink, and his wife, Joan Mondale, in blue ink. The offered 96-page book measures 6.25x9.2". It comes with its original, slip-in decorative box. The offered book and box are in excellent condition and make a wonderfully fitting place for the signatures, which average 7-8/10. The offering comes with a PSA LOA for the signatures.
