One of the most desirable and collectible styles in all of hockey history, this circa late 1960s Buffalo Bisons jersey was game worn by Gerry Ouellette. All original white top with red-and-blue stripes has Dick Fischer Sporting Goods tag in collar, and there is also a flag tag for the size but the number that was on it has been washed out. Number "7678" is written inside the tail in fading black marker. As legend has it, the local Pepsi distributor also owned the Bisons and, in a masterpiece of cross-marketing, turned the team logo into essentially a Pepsi bottlecap, with "Buffalo" in script replacing the cola brand. That design is the primary reason that all Bisons jerseys are sought-after, and this one is a beauty, hammered with use including many team repairs (mostly on sleeves), stick marks, pilling, paint transfers, burns, and pilling. Number 11 is on shoulders and back in red-on-blue tackle twill; it was rumored Buffalo Sabres Hall of Famer Gil Perreault donned this jersey (his number was 11) in 1970 preseason action and while we can't prove it, it stands as a cool story and topic of conversation. Oulette had a brief NHL stint but spent 10 years in the minors, including from 1965-66 to 1969-70 with the Bisons. Likely used for more than one season, the extensive use provides great insight into the rough-and-tumble nature of American Hockey League play during that era, and this specimen certainly has a lot going for it.
