Collection of six vintage news photographs, dating from the early 1900s, capturing either former Boston Red Sox players or owners. These photos originate from the personal collection of a former Boston sportswriter, who acquired most of them from his newspaper's photo department or the Boston Red Sox public relations department. Because these are news photos, all display flaws consistent with their former use, including, but not limited to, trimming, creasing, crazing, edge tears, editorial shading and/or markings, pinholes, and writing on the reverse. 1) Harry Hooper. Pictured in a fielding pose. American League Service Bureau credit stamp on the reverse. 6.5x8". 2) Duffy Lewis. Portrait image. Underwood & Underwood credit stamp on the reverse. Several date stamps appear on the reverse, the earliest of which is "Oct 10 1915." 6.5x8.5". 3) Harry Frazee and his Wife. A credit stamp reading "Property of the Boston Americans Reference Department" appears on the reverse, along with several date stamps, the earliest of which is "Jan 24 1922." 8.25x6.5." 4) Howard Ehmke. Posing on field wearing his Boston sweater. Partially adhered to a cardboard backing, but a "Wide World Photo" credit stamp is visible on the reverse. 4x6.5". 5-6) Bill Carrigan. Both of these unusual photos picture Carrigan with an ostrich. One pictures him riding the ostrich, the other seated in a buggy being pulled by the ostrich. Both bear a credit stamp on the reverse that reads "Photo by Williams Boston." One has a date stamp of "Mar 11 1913," while the other has date stamps reading "Mar 10 1913" and "Jul 23 1913." Each measures 6.5x8.5". Please note: none of the photos have been evaluated by PSA, therefore no guarantees are made regarding specific Type designations.
