Cincinnati Reds heavy wool jacket worn by pitcher Al Hollingsworth in 1935. The red-and-blue button-down jacket features the Reds team logo on the left breast. A "Cincinnati Athletic Goods Co." label appears in the collar. Attribution to Hollingsworth can be found on the interior left front tail, where the uniform number "26" is chain-stitched in red upon a small, blue strip tag. Hollinsworth wore number 26 with the Reds only in 1935, which was his rookie season. That, along with the fact that the original owner acquired the jacket many years ago from a member of the Hollingsworth family, pinpoints the year of its use to 1935. Vintage Major League team jackets from this era are scarce and the offered example is notable for its remarkable state of preservation. Moderate wear is displayed throughout, with just some slight fading to the fabric, but it has no holes or large tears which are so common to outer garments of this vintage. Aside from one of the buttons having been replaced (appears to be a team replacement) the jacket is original as issued. Hollingsworth appeared in 38 games with the Reds during his 1935 rookie season, finishing the year with a record of 6-13 and a 3.89 ERA. He finished his eleven-year career with 70 wins and a 3.99 lifetime ERA.
