Outstanding display includes a rare authentic Olympic Gold Medal, earned at the 1964 Summer Games won by track and field star Paul Drayton. Shadowbox display has a wood frame and measures 17x12x2", and features the medal with original ribbon and display box with Japanese characters. To the right, an engraved plate reads, "Paul Drayton - Class of '63 - Olympic Gold Medal - Japan 1964 - 400-Meter Relay - donated - September 27, 1980 - to - Villanova University. A clear plastic cover for the display is unattached but present; a hole is in each corner corresponding with holes in the frame, which can easily be re-mounted. Drayton ran the first leg of that 4x100 relay for the United States, with his team setting a World Record of 39.06 seconds.
