Tremendous game used glove from Hall of Famer Greg Maddux, generally considered to be the best fielding pitcher in baseball history. This is the best Maddux glove known, fitting for the man who holds the all-time record with 18 Gold Glove awards. Outside of glove has extensive Wilson tagging, with circular W logo on thumb and webbing, rectangular Conform Wilson patch on fingers, and circular logo with four Ws on wrist strap; in the middle is an air pump button, presumably to tighten the fit on the velcro wrist strap. GREG MADDUX is embroidered in yellow on the thumb. Model number 1668 is printed inside on the pinky and great use is displayed. Photo-matched to an astounding (8) games of his 4th straight Cy Young season, including Games 1 and 5 of the World Series, 8/26 when Maddux broke the NL record and tied the MLB record for most road wins in a row with 16, and his first complete game win of the season.
This was used for the entire season as it is matched to April 1995 Spring Training all the way up to October in the World Series. Photo-matched to: 4/9 Spring Training (Getty 1125167600), 5/23 - first complete game win of season (YouTube video 2:08:09) 7/13 - complete game win (Getty 800801812), 7/29 - complete game win (Getty 83963828), 8/20 - complete game win (YouTube 26:11), 8/26 - complete game win breaks NL record and ties MLB record for most wins on the road in a row with 16 (Getty 51990321), 9/21 - win game (YouTube), 10/21 - World Series Game 1 win (Getty 459762445, 459762377, 51686310), 10/26 - World Series Game 5 (Getty 51686229). Note there is a knot near the finger hole that appears longer in photos but we can tell that it was cut. An unassuming figure at best, Maddux was a terror to opposing hitters with his pinpoint control overcoming his lack of a dominant fastball to the tune of 355 career victories over 23 exceptional seasons.
