Displayed is an album page signed by 12 players on the 1936 World Champion New York Yankees. In '36, under Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy, the Yankees went 102-51-2 and took the World Series from the New York Giants in six games. There are actually 13 signatures on the album page, but catcher Art Jorgens signed twice. The 4.4x6" page has the signature of rookie Joe DiMaggio, who was a sensation that season. The 21-year-old Hall of Famer batted .323, with 29 homers and 125 RBIs. Interestingly, Joltin' Joe signs as "J. Di Maggio," still signing his last name with a break between the "Di" and the "Maggio." Other Hall of Famers signing: Charles "Red" Ruffing, who went 20-12 on the mound that year and was a good hitting pitcher who also pinch hit, he batted .291 in 127 at bats, with five homers and 22 RBIs; Lefty Gomez, with a 13-7 record and a 4.39 ERA. Also signing: Frankie Crosetti, Art Jorgens, John "Jumbo" Brown (a 6'4", 295-pound pitcher), Ben Chapman, Monte Pearson, Don Heffner, and George Selkirk. The signatures are in blue or black ink from fountain pens. The album page has darkened from the passage of time. The signed page has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
