This Slugger trophy was awarded to second baseman Chuck Knoblauch for his 1997 season. Sourcing directly from Knoblauch himself, the trophy reads, "Hillerich & Bradsby Co. Silver Slugger Award Presented to Chuck Knoblauch - 2B Minnesota/Member of the Sporting News National League Offensive Team 1997." The trophy then goes on to list all the other AL position winners that year, including Tino Martinez; Nomar Garciaparra; Matt Williams; Ken Griffey Jr.; Dave Justice; Juan Gonzalez; Ivan Rodriguez; and Edgar Martinez.
