Presented is a 1987-88 Derrick McKey Seattle Supersonics game used jersey that was game worn during McKey's NBA rookie season. McKey was a 6'10" small forward who also sometimes played power forward. He played 16 seasons in the NBA (1987-88 through 2002-03), with his first six seasons for Seattle. In his rookie season, he was named to the All-NBA Rookie team. He was also twice named to the All-NBA Second Defensive Team. Although he scored 10,266 career points and averaged 11.0 PPG, he was primarily known for his defensive ability, passing and team play. In the 1987-88 season during which he wore the offered jersey, McKey averaged 8.5 PPG, with 4.0 TRB and 1.3 APG as the Sonics finished in third place in the NBA's Pacific Division and lost in the Western Division First Round Playoffs to the Denver Nuggets. During his years on Seattle, he was one-third of the Sonics' "Big Mac" trio - Nate McMillan, Xavier McDaniel, and McKey. The offered mesh jersey is green, with gold and white trim. The front shows SONICS in green stenciled, block letters. Under the team's name is 31, in stenciled gold numerals with white trim. The NBA logo is affixed near the left shoulder strap. On the outside lower left tail are four tags: A Sand-Knit manufacturer's tag; a MacGregor Sand-Knit size 42 tag, with a 31 handwritten in black marker by an unknown hand; an 87 year tag; a 4 MLB tag, with much of the thread of the "M" missing. The back has "McKey" in green stenciled letters on a white background. "31" is below the McKey name, in gold numerals with white trim. The game used jersey shows moderate wear and yet is in overall excellent condition.
