After toiling in the Mexican League for five years, second baseman Bobby Avila caught his big break when the Cleveland Indians recognized his league-best .346 batting average and took a chance, signing him to a minor-league contract. After an injury-plagued initial season in the minors, Avila made it to the majors in 1949 and earned a starting job a year later, batting close to .300 over the next six seasons, winning a batting title and earning All-Star honors. During that stretch, Avila used this Hillerich & Bradsby Model K75 bat, which shows light use and is uncracked. The bat measures 33.75" and weighs 33.875 ounces.
