Presented is a 1950 game used Pete Reiser bat, from the outfielder's time with the Boston Braves. Reiser was considered an up-and-coming superstar in 1941, when the Brooklyn Dodger outfielder led the National League in hitting (.343), doubles, triples, slugging and OPS and finished 2nd in NL MVP voting. But after three years away from professional baseball when in was in the U.S. Military during World War II, and a series of devastating injuries from running into outfield walls in fearless pursuit of fly balls, Reiser lost his incredible potential, and became an ordinary player, one who overcame a number of serious injuries to last ten seasons in Major League ball. After his Dodger career, Reiser played two seasons with the Boston Braves (1949-50), and then a season each with the Cleveland Indians and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Leo Durocher, who managed Reiser on the Dodgers and Willie Mays with the New York Giants, ranked Reiser's early talent with that of Mays. In 1950, Reiser had 78 official at bats, hitting .205. The offered bat is a Hillerich and Bradsby Professional Bat (Model #K55). The bat has a length of 35.0" and a weight of 31.7 ounces. It's an ash bat with a standard finish. The bat is uncracked and shows light use. A few ball marks are visible on the left and back barrel. The handle has a light coat of pine tar. The K55 Model Number is stamped onto the knob. PSA/DNA Cert. Number is 1B28974. A full PSA LOA comes with the bat.
