Presented is a 1923 New York Giants sterling silver season pass to the Polo Grounds (V). Not only is this season pass beautiful in itself, but the season pass permitted its owner to enjoy the beautiful baseball played by those '23 Giants, who won the National League pennant with a 95-58 record and had an amazing eight Hall of Famers play at least some part of the season. Those Hall of Famers included: first baseman George Kelly, who batted .307 that season; Frankie Frisch, who hit .348 in '23; shortstop Dave Bancroft who slashed for .304 that campaign; infielder Travis Jackson (.275); outfielder Ross Youngs (.336); In addition, outfielder Casey Stengel, in the Hall of Fame as a manager, hit .339 in '23; Plus, Hall of Fame first baseman and Hall of Fame outfielder Hack Wilson, both young players just breaking in, each played in three games for the Giants that year. That superb collection of talent was managed by Hall of Famer John McGraw. The Giants lost the World Series in '23, in six games, to the New York Yankees. The circular, baseball themed pass has a diameter of 1.375", and it weighs 1.0 ounce. Printed on the front: "GIANTS/WORLDS CHAMPIONS/1921-22 Horace Stoneham Pres." On the back is "626/H. J. BENSON (to whom it was issued)/1923." Also on the back, the pass is both marked "Lambert Bros.," and "Sterling." The pass has a very small circular "eye" on top, from which a chain could be used, but no chain is included. The attractive pass is in NRMT condition.
