Terrific vintage look in this 1954 Philadelphia Phillies game worn during Rob Greenwood's rookie season. Strip tag in collar reads "Greenwood R" in black script stitching; left front tail has Wilson, size 44, and 1954 year tagging on left front tail. Traditional script Phillies is across the chest in maroon-on-white chenille lettering, number 26 is on back in same style. Ash gray coloring on this road top gives it a tremendous look and it is all original except for one button, which has been replaced. Great use displayed with some loose and missing stitching around the collar and a small stain on the back side; jersey has a very soft texture due to repeated washing. A 0.25x4.5" piece of material has been removed to repair a tear on the left shoulder, a practice not uncommon in that era. Prior to the start of his rookie season, only six players to reach the Majors were born in Mexico, making his brief two-year stint historic despite its short tenure.
