Presented is a 1914 original Type I photograph of Hall of Famer Roger Bresnahan taken by famous sports photographer Charles Conlon. Bresnahan played for six Major League teams: Washington Senators (1897), Chicago Orphans (1900), Baltimore Orioles (1901-02), New York Giants (1902-1908), St Louis Cardinals (1909-12), and Chicago Cubs (1912-15). He played every position on the diamond, but he was mainly a catcher. He batted .279 lifetime. Bresnahan caught all of Christy Mathewson's three shutouts, plus all of Joe McGinity's shutout, in the Giants' 1905 World Series Championship over the Philadelphia Athletics. Bresnahan is credited with being the first Major league catcher to use shin guards when he employed shin guards appropriated from cricket in 1907. Charles Conlon was a New York City based photographer who created over 30,000 images of baseball players. His photos were used in newspapers, on baseball cards, and in documentaries, and many of his images are still used today. The photo measures approx. 7.25x9.9". The photo has value as the image of a vintage Hall of Famer was shot by baseball's most famed early photographer. It has been encapsulated and PSA certified "TYPE 1 AUTHENTIC."
