Ticket stub to the "Fifth Annual Tip-Off Classic" between North Carolina State and Houston held at the Springfield Civic Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, on November 19, 1983. Graded VG 3 by PSA. This is the ONLY example of this ticket stub listed in the PSA Population Report. In the 1983 NCAA Finals, Jim Valvano's Wolfpack of North Carolina State stunned the sports world with their upset of the heavily favored Houston Cougars. It was only fitting then, that the two schools would open up the 1983-1984 NCAA basketball season by facing each other in the Tip Off Classic. Once again N.C. State prevailed, winning the game 76-64. The ticket stub (4.75x2") displays a staple hole and a few light creases.
