1998 Don Mattingly Limited Edition career ring is a gem in it's own right, with a blue spinel set stone serving as the base for Mattingly's number 23, inset with genuine diamonds and diamond chips. Bezel reads Don Mattingly Captain, left shank reads 1894 AL Batting Champion above a relief of Yankee Stadium. Right shank reads 85 MVP above 307 Lifetime Average, and the date of 8/31/87, marking his retirement. Widely considered the best first baseman of his era, Donnie Baseball recorded nine Gold Gloves and was a 3-time Silver Slugger winner, all in an injury-shortened 14-year career which many believe is still worthy of Hall of Fame honors.
