"Someone once asked me," said Mickey Mantle, "if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. I said 'Sure. Every time.'" Although Mantle, early in his career - especially when he had great speed - would occasionally bunt, his admission is essentially true. Mick swung all out, for the fences. Presented is a number "7" Mickey Mantle signed New York Yankees jersey. What a way for any collector to start or enhance a sports conversation - to show off this Mickey Mantle signed jersey! Mantle, with 536 lifetime home runs, was the greatest home run hitting switch-hitter in baseball history. A 7-time World Champion, he spent his entire 18-year Major League career with the New York Yankees. He won the AL Triple Crown in 1956, and he was a 3-time AL MVP. Although in 1961, he fell short of breaking Babe Ruth's single season record of 60 home runs, when Mantle lost out to teammate Roger Maris to exceed the Babe's record, Mantle then became even more popular than he already was. The jersey is a white home jersey with Navy blue pinstripes. On the left chest is the iconic interlocking NY of the Yankees. In the collar is a Rawlings Manufacturers' tag that shows the size as "44." On the back of this tag are the washing instructions and a notice that the jersey is 100% polyester, excluding trim. The bottom left outside tail has a tag that shows the jersey to be "Action Tailored" by Rawlings and also shows the size as "44." Mantle has signed his name and inscribed "No. 7" under the interlocking NY on the front, and the name and inscription were both written with a marker in blue ink. The back shows "7" in a sewn-on navy blue numeral. The signed jersey is in excellent condition. It comes with a PSA Letter of Authenticity.
