Displayed is a 1991 Cal Ripken Jr. Baltimore Orioles game worn jersey, and the most exciting detail about this offering is that the jersey was game worn during The Streak! Hall of Famer Ripken played 21 Major League seasons, all with the Baltimore Orioles, from 1981-2001. He began his all-time best Major League consecutive game streak on May 30, 1982, and the streak lasted an astounding 2,632 games before ending on September 19, 1998. Thus, this 1991 jersey was game worn approximately two-thirds into the streak. Of course, Ripken didn't just play consecutive games, he played them superbly. Playing 2,302 games at shortstop, with 675 games at third base, Ripken was a 2-time American League MVP, a 19-time All-Star, and an 8-time Silver Slugger. He amassed 3,184 hits, with 431 home runs. The white home jersey has Orioles in script written across the chest, in orange lettering with black trim. The left sleeve has a multi-colored patch reading "Orioles/Memorial Stadium/1954-1991/A Season to Remember." The right sleeve has "Rawlings" embroidered in black thread. Six silver-colored buttons go down the front. The left front inside tail has four tags: 1) A Rawlings manufacturer's tag that lists size "48" and also contains the MLB logo; 2) A tag that says "T"; 3) A tag reading "2-inch extra length"; 4) A tag showing "Set 1 1991." The back has a sewn on white nameplate with "RIPKEN" in orange block letters with black trim. Under the nameplate is "8," in an orange numeral with black trim. The jersey shows moderate wear, with a few small stains, one near the bottom button, and a few other very small stains and some loose threads. Overall, the jersey is in excellent condition, and it creates an attachment to all-time great Cal Ripken Jr. and his mind-boggling consecutive games streak.
