"I'm married to football; baseball is my girlfriend," said NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders about his two-sport professional success as both an NFL and MLB player. Presented is a game used Deion Sanders Louisville Slugger bat from either the 1995 or 1997 season with the Cincinnati Reds. Sanders sat out the 1996 baseball season. Deion, known as both "Prime Time" and "Neon Deion", played in nine seasons of MLB as a left or center fielder. He was with the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants, and Cincinnati as he juggled his two-sport career. In baseball, he hit .263 in 641 games, with 186 stolen bases. With Cincinnati, he played in 226 games, hit .260 and stole 94 bases. As a football player, he was primarily a great "shut-down" cornerback, and he had 53 interceptions. Prime Time also returned kicks and punts, scoring six touchdowns on punts and three on kick-offs, and also played some wide receiver. He was selected for eight Pro Bowls and was a member of both the Super Bowl Champions in Super Bowl XXIX and XXX. Playing in 14 NFL seasons, he competed for the Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and Baltimore Ravens. Sanders played for the Cincinnati Reds from 1994-95, 1997 and again in 2001. In 1989, Sanders is the only athlete to have hit an MLB home run and scored an NFL touchdown in the same week. He is also the only player to have played in both a Super Bowl and the World Series. The game used bat is a Louisville Slugger. Imprinted on the barrel is "Genuine R161 Deion Sanders Cincinnati Reds". The bat has a black finish and number "21" is written on the knob, and Sanders wore that number on the Reds from 1995-97. The bat measures 34" long, and it weighs 31.1 ounces. It is cracked on the high part of the handle, and it shows medium use. This item presents an excellent opportunity to add a game used bat, from one of the best of the rare professional two-sport athletes, to any sports assemblage.
