Displayed is a poster heavily signed by Negro Leagues legends. Titled "There was always Sun Shining Someplace - Life in the Negro Leagues" the poster depicts the famous Pittsburgh Crawfords in a team photo as they pose in front of the team bus. The poster is based on the 1981 documentary film The Was Always Sun Shining Someplace and featuring James Earl Jones as the narrator, and starring Cool Papa Bell, Jimmie Crutchfield, and Chet Brewer. The poster is signed by 85+ former players in the Negro Leagues. Signatures: Willie Mays (HOF, who played for the Birmingham Black Barons), Buck Leonard (HOF), Leon Day (HOF), Monte Irvin (HOF), Buck O'Neil (HOF), Sam Jethroe, Artie Wilson, Bill Owens, Bob Boyd, Bill "Ready" Cash, Wild Bill Wright, Max Manning, Double Duty Radcliffe (HOF), Joe Black, Lester Lockett, and Josh Gibson Jr. (the son of Hall of Fame icon Josh Gibson Sr., and Josh Gibson Jr. was a player himself for the Homestead Grays), and Lorenzo "Piper" Davis, the first professional manager of Willie Mays when Piper Davis managed the Birmingham Barons. Also signing the poster is Lionel Hampton, the great jazz vibraphonist and a fervent fan of baseball in the Negro Leagues. The poster is framed at approx. 18.5x24.5", and the poster is in excellent condition. The limited-edition Alcoa Foundation poster is 232/950. This fascinating poster presents a great trove of signatures from Hall of Famers and stars from the Negro Leagues.
