Displayed is a James Worthy signed special North Carolina jersey. Worthy played three seasons at North Carolina, and he was a consensus All-American player at North Carolina in 1981-82, and the 6'9" forward helped the Tar Heels to win that season's NCAA Championship. In addition to Worthy, coach Dean Smith's 1981-82 North Carolina squad also had Sam Perkins and freshman Michael Jordan. In that NCAA Championship Game, Worthy scored 28 points and won the tournament's Most Outstanding Player Award. Worthy went on to play 12 seasons in the NBA, all with the Los Angeles Lakers. He was a 7-time All-Star and was a part of three Laker NBA Championships. The sleeveless jersey is in Carolina Blue, with white numerals, lettering, and trim. The front shows "North Carolina" and "52." In the neck is a manufacturing tag that shows the jersey is "100%" Polyester." The tag also gives washing instructions. A smaller tag shows the size as XL. The back has "Worthy" in white letters and "52," also in white. Below the number is the following, in white numerals and letters: "James Ager Worthy/'Big Game James, 1,219 Career Points/1982 Final Four MVP, 1982 NCAA Champion." "North Carolina #52 Retired." Worthy has signed his name in black marker on the top if the numeral "5." The jersey is in excellent condition. The autographed piece comes with an Authentication from JSA.
