Original Type I photograph capturing a Boston Red Sox player sliding into third base during Game 2 of the 1916 World Series against the Brooklyn Robins. Two Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with the original paper news caption that identifies the Red Sox player as Duffy Lewis. Despite that identification, research indicates that Lewis neither reached nor attempted to reach third base during the game, therefore, either the identification of Lewis, or the identification of the game is in error. Despite that ambiguity, there is no doubt this is a 1916 World Series photo, as that was the only year in which Boston and Brooklyn met in the fall classic (the uniforms clearly identify the teams). The photo (8x6.25") displays a tiny chip in the upper right corner and creasing in the upper left corner. In Very Good condition overall. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
