Original Type I photograph capturing Roger Maris at the plate during the game in which he hit his record-tying 60th home run at Yankee Stadium on September 26, 1961. The photo, taken from the mezzanine level, pictures Maris at bat in mid-swing. As noted by the scoreboard in centerfield, Maris was batting in the bottom on the seventh inning with the game tied 2-2. Maris' record-tying home run, a solo shot, came in the third inning off Jack Fisher and cut the Orioles lead to 2-1. The Yankees won the game 3-2. A Brown Brothers credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with a handwritten caption describing the scene. The photo (10x8") displays a few light surface wrinkles. In Very Good to Excellent condition. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
