Enormous action photo, measuring 30x40", picturing a Detroit Tigers player sliding into first base. This was obviously a strange play, as the umpire has been tossed upside down, but unfortunately, there is no other information accompanying the piece to help explain the situation. The only clue we have as to when this image was taken is the "Health" patch on the sleeve of the first baseman. That patch was worn by every Major League player between the years 1942-1945. Photos of this size are rare and this piece may have been displayed at Briggs Stadium, either in the concourse or in the front office. The photo, which is dry mounted onto a thick board, displays moderate foxing and several light stains and minor abrasions. In Fair to Good condition overall. Framed to total dimensions of 41.5x31.5". Please note: the size and/or weight of this lot will necessitate an increased shipping charge.
