Collection of 505 baseball postcards, the overwhelming majority of which depict ballparks. Most of the cards date from the 1930s to the 1970s, but both earlier and later issues are included. Featured among the highlights are a 1909 West Side Grounds postcard, a 1908 embossed postcard of a generic player, a 1907 Dietsche postcard of William Donovan, a 1914 Forbes Field postcard, a 1939 Hall of Fame postcard, a 1912 Billy Sunday postcard, a circa 1915 Polo Grounds postcard, and a Yankee Stadium postcard addressed to hobby pioneer Lionel Carter in 1956. The majority of the cards picture Major League ballparks, including many that have long since been torn down. Nearly every Major League stadium in use from the 1930s to the 1960s is represented here, including many different cards for each stadium. Approximately 30% of the collection is devoted to various minor league, spring training, or local ballparks. About 15% of the cards display writing on the reverse or have been mailed, with most of the postmarks dating between the 1940s and 1960s. Duplicates make up approximately 10% of the collection. Cards range from standard size (5.5x3.5") to oversized (6x4"). Excellent condition overall, with toning on the reverse the most common flaw.
