Selection of five (5) postcards and prints by Charles Dana Gibson, of "Gibson Girls" fame. Starting in the late 1900s, Gibson took to compiling pen-and-ink illustrations of women he considered to be the personification of feminine attractiveness. In the images offered here, he shifts his study not just to baseball, but specifically the fanatic fans. 1) "The Eleventh Inning" depicts four gents clearly taking in an exciting extra-innings contest. Created in 1898, measures 15x12" matted on cardboard to 20x16". 2) "Fanned Out" shows three nattily-clad fans clearly not enjoying themselves as their team has fallen on some hardship or another. Measures 17x11" mounted on cardboard to 19.5x13.75". 3-5) Trio of unused 3.5x5.5" postcards with two bearing the same illustrations noted above, and the other called "The Game Begins," with fans in finery excited about the prospects of the upcoming contest. Some toning to the cards, average presentation is EX condition.
