Haunting, historic, and iconic Pulitzer Prize-winning photo titled "The Babe Bows Out" is wonderfully framed and comes with a handwritten letter from photographer Nat Fein. Photo itself measures 13x10" and is matted and framed to 20x16.5". Letter from Fein states that he made this print from his original negative but later than the time frame necessary to be a Type I, thus it bears a Type II designation. He also stated that he wrote his name on the back of the photo in pencil. The Bambino had been retired for a decade when this photo was taken in 1948, and stories vary with one version saying Fein followed an "instinct" to move behind Babe, and another saying the first base side of the field facing Ruth was crowded with photographers (evident in this photo), forcing him to move to the other side where he captured the rear view of the frail, cancer-stricken legend who passed away just months later.
